He became even more popular after joining ABC and starting anchoring the Good Morning America show.
A multi-talented journalist, he has embraced the various aspects of broadcast journalism and has worked with NBC Sports as a sportscaster and with CBS anchoring the news. He also served as a host for National Geographic Channel.
Let’s learn more about his bio, spouse and where he is right now.
Biography of Josh Elliott
Known professionally as Josh Elliott, JoshMichael Elliott was born on July 6, 1971. His mother’s name is Susan, but she gave him up to be adopted by Charles Elliott and Toni Jordan, who raised him at their country house in Los Angeles, USA. When he was 13, his father admitted to being gay. And that led to his parents’ divorce. His father eventually died two years later.
He was educated at Loyola High School in Los, after which he enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). His original plan for attending UCSB was to join the university’s track team – The Gauchos , but he found himself working with the university’s newspaper team – The Daily Nexus , instead. In 1993 he graduated with a BA in English Literature.
After graduating from UCSB, he worked briefly at the Santa Barbara News-Press as a freelance journalist and began his graduate studies at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He graduated in 1999 with an MSc degree.
His professional career
Prior to joining National Geographic, Josh Elliott began his career at Sports Illustrated, where he was a sports reporter for six years. He also worked for Galaxy Productions and then 20th Century Fox, all as a TV producer. In 2004, he joined ESPN, working in various capacities and on various shows. However, his influence was most felt in 2008 when he started hosting Sports Center with Hannah Storm.
Upon leaving ESPN in 2011, he joined ABC Network, where he took over from Juju Chang to anchor Good Morning America. He also hosted Hello America after his contract with ABC expired in 2014, joining NBC as a sports anchor. He also served as a host for The Today Show. Unfortunately, his stint on ABC ended abruptly in 2015.
He was hired by CBS News in 2016 but had a very brief 11-month stint with them. There he was the main anchor of CBSN, the network’s news channel. He was later fired due to serious misunderstandings in 2017.
His spouse (Liz Cho)
The journalist is a happily married family man and husband to Liz Cho, his second wife. Liz Cho is also a reporter and presenter at local television station WABC-TV. The couple reportedly married in 2015 after dating for three years. Their wedding was hosted by Weather Channel’s Josh Elliott’s former colleague Sam Champion. The wedding ceremony took place at Villa Sevillano in Montecito, California.
Although the TV show host used to be the husband of Priya Narang, an Indian woman with whom he had a daughter, the marriage ended in divorce due to Elliott’s infidelity. His daughter’s name is Sarina Elliott and she was born sometime in 2009. Josh Elliott is yet to have another child with his second wife, Liz Cho. However, Liz Cho has a daughter, Louisa, who was born in 2007.
Where is he now?
It was reported that Elliott was fired from CBS News on February 13, 2017. This was arguably the biggest stint and setback he has experienced in his career to date. Although he left CBS for less fortunate reasons, it has been difficult to determine where his next stop will be.
Still, he surprisingly made a comeback to screens when he co- hosted Yellowstone Live on the National Geographic Channel with Chris Packham in the summer of 2018. The show ran for four days and focused on showcasing the beauties of the greater yellow ecosystem move. He apparently works as a freelance media agent.
